A murder investigation has been launched into the death of politician Ann Widdicombe, after the 78-year-old was found with serious injuries in her Dartmoor home on Thursday.
In a statement, Devon and Cornwall Police said a 26-year-old man was in custody.
The Reform UK spokeswoman was last seen publicly in an interview on TalkTV on Wednesday.
