Options traders were buying a lot of protection on the iShares Semiconductor ETF (SOXX) on Tuesday. Puts traded 1.5x the 20-day average volume, 74,468 contracts. Options markets are echoing what you are already seeing in the charts. This rally is a roller-coaster.The South Korean KOSPI Index, as good a proxy as exists for the global hardware and memory supply chain feeding this trade, has suffered at least three separate drawdowns exceeding 10% this year, each compressed into three sessions or fewer. One of those drops was nearly 20%. The returns the semis have seen, more than 300% off the 2025…
IQVIA, with its vast trove of health information, sits at the center of drug development, providing data, tools and services to conduct research and perform clinical trials. After a supply chain destocking cycle, growth and backlog are improving and have allowed the company to raise its guidance. IQVIA recently launched an AI platform in partnership with NVDIA. Another megacap tech stock has been tapped to join the Dow Jones Industrial Average , as the symbolic stock gauge continues to evolve to reflect the driving forces of the new economy. Google-parent Alphabet will become one of the Dow-30 stocks before the open on Monday, replacing Verizon . Dow inclusion is not a reason to buy a stock because the money benchmarked to the broader market is tied to the S & P 500 or the tech-heavy Nasdaq 100 (Alphabet already belongs to those indexes). That means there won’t be much forced fund buying tied to joining the Dow.…

At least 20 stranded oil tankers carrying 35 million barrels have exited the Persian Gulf through the Strait of Hormuz since the U.S. and Iran agreed to open the sea lane, according to data provided by Kpler, a firm that tracks global trade flows. The tankers, which were not Iranian in origin, had been stuck in the Gulf for more than three months after Tehran effectively closed Hormuz early in the war, Kpler analysts said in a Tuesday note. The ships should reach their final destinations, which are mostly in Asia, by early August, the analysts said. In total, confirmed…
Historical requirements It remains unclear what strain of flu is circulating in the base. Circulation of seasonal influenza viruses tends to be low during the summer amid the general population. But activity does not fall to zero, and the close quarters and extensive contact within a base make it easy for transmission to skyrocket. In a statement to Ars Technica, Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell said that the Pentagon had granted exceptions to Hegseth’s optional flu shot policy to the Army, Navy, Air Force, National Security Agency, and the Defense Health Agency. The exceptions came after a “comprehensive review” and are…
