    Canada stocks lower at close of trade; S&P/TSX Composite down 0.51% By Investing.com

    Investing.com – Canada stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Consumer Staples, IT and Healthcare sectors led shares lower.

    At the close in Toronto, the declined 0.51%.

    The best performers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were TerraVest Industries Inc (), which rose 7.67% or 11.23 points to trade at 157.65 at the close. Meanwhile, Superior Plus Corp () added 6.67% or 0.52 points to end at 8.32 and Vizsla Silver Corp () was up 6.21% or 0.30 points to 5.13 in late trade.

    The worst performers of the session were Boyd Group Services Inc (), which fell 4.35% or 6.67 points to trade at 146.68 at the close. Americas Silver Corp () declined 3.68% or 0.31 points to end at 8.11 and Descartes Systems Group Inc () was down 3.46% or 3.49 points to 97.42.

    Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 554 to 434 and 71 ended unchanged.

    Shares in Superior Plus Corp (TSX:SPB) rose to 52-week highs; rising 6.67% or 0.52 to 8.32.

    The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was up 1.42% to 14.26.

    for August delivery was down 0.35% or 16.10 to $4,540.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, for delivery in July fell 3.00% or 2.90 to hit $93.70 a barrel, while the August contract rose 3.47% or 3.24 to trade at $96.66 a barrel.

    CAD/USD was unchanged 0.08% to 0.72, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.03% to 0.62.
