    India stocks lower at close of trade; Nifty 50 down 0.02% By Investing.com

    Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Fast Moving Consumer Goods, Healthcare and Technology sectors led shares lower.

    At the close in NSE, the fell 0.02%, while the index fell 0.15%.

    The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were , which rose 3.60% or 186.00 points to trade at 5,356.00 at the close. Meanwhile, added 3.57% or 21.65 points to end at 628.00 and was up 2.63% or 271.00 points to 10,590.00 in late trade.

    The worst performers of the session were , which fell 1.90% or 44.10 points to trade at 2,273.00 at the close. declined 1.33% or 32.40 points to end at 2,403.00 and was down 1.16% or 50.60 points to 4,309.00.

    The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which rose 2.04% to 3,367.35, NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which was up 1.33% to settle at 399.95 and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which gained 1.18% to close at 380.65.

    The worst performers were Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which was down 1.90% to 2,274.00 in late trade, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which lost 1.29% to settle at 2,404.00 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which was down 1.29% to 1,448.00 at the close.

    Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1722 to 806 and 46 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2545 rose and 1448 declined, while 159 ended unchanged.

    Shares in Bajaj Auto Ltd (NSE:BAJA) rose to 52-week highs; up 2.63% or 271.00 to 10,590.00.

    , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.50% to 16.43 a new 1-month low.

    was up 1.00% or 47.09 to $4,741.39 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, fell 2.49% or 2.37 to hit $92.71 a barrel, while the fell 2.33% or 2.36 to trade at $98.91 a barrel.

    USD/INR was down 0.40% to 94.02, while EUR/INR fell 0.16% to 110.98.
