The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which rose 2.04% to 3,367.35, NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which was up 1.33% to settle at 399.95 and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which gained 1.18% to close at 380.65.
The worst performers were Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which was down 1.90% to 2,274.00 in late trade, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which lost 1.29% to settle at 2,404.00 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which was down 1.29% to 1,448.00 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1722 to 806 and 46 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2545 rose and 1448 declined, while 159 ended unchanged.
Shares in Bajaj Auto Ltd (NSE:BAJA) rose to 52-week highs; up 2.63% or 271.00 to 10,590.00.
