The deputy leader of Reform in Wales changed her mind mid-interview on whether a party member should apologise for accusations of racism, after hearing Nigel Farage had said there should be an apology.

Prominent Reform backer, Arron Banks, was accused of questioning the Welshness of a black Plaid Cymru campaigner in an online post, where he wrote “Welsh lad?”

Helen Jenner, who was appointed deputy leader of Reform in Wales in April, refused five opportunities in a Newyddion S4C interview on Wednesday to call on Banks to apologise.

But upon hearing that Reform UK leader Nigel Farage had said Banks should apologise during another interview with BBC Wales, she then U-turned and said there should be an apology.

“I think that someone that’s put something like that out, that’s been taken in that way, should apologise, clarify what they mean,” Jenner said.
