    Japan stocks lower at close of trade; Nikkei 225 down 2.79% By Investing.com

    Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Paper & Pulp, Transport and Communication sectors led shares lower.

    At the close in Tokyo, the declined 2.79%.

    The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Shift Inc (), which rose 8.21% or 61.20 points to trade at 807.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Toho Co., Ltd. () added 6.48% or 88.00 points to end at 1,446.50 and BayCurrent Consulting Inc () was up 4.69% or 292.00 points to 6,522.00 in late trade.

    The worst performers of the session were Disco Corp (), which fell 12.27% or 8,520.00 points to trade at 60,890.00 at the close. Kioxia Holdings Corp () declined 9.49% or 5,870.00 points to end at 56,010.00 and SoftBank Group Corp. () was down 7.06% or 418.00 points to 5,500.00.

    Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2197 to 1302 and 251 ended unchanged.

    The , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 6.84% to 34.82.

    for September delivery was down 1.69% or 1.56 to $90.63 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, for delivery in September fell 1.65% or 1.66 to hit $99.03 a barrel, while the August fell 0.30% or 12.30 to trade at $4,037.90 a troy ounce.

    USD/JPY was down 0.04% to 163.78, while EUR/JPY rose 0.03% to 186.49.
